Winter holiday tag – 2017
To help start the holiday season off right (even though it’s currently like 60 degrees out), I thought it would be cute to do a holiday tag! This particular one was created by a Facebook group that I’m part of called Boss Girl Bloggers. To help spread some holiday cheer and winter vibes, I’m going to be tagging three people at the end of the post. If you’re tagged, create your own blog post answering the questions and then tag three others (make sure you also link back to the original person who tagged you)! Even if you haven’t been tagged, I would love to hear some of your answers. Please feel free to create a post or answer in the comments!

- What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Every year my family gets together on Christmas Eve and my grandma always makes potato soup for us. It’s always the perfect thing because not only is it super easy to make a big batch of, but it makes you all warm and toasty inside. One year she didn’t make the soup because she said it was too warm out (not true) and it just didn’t feel like Christmas Eve. Trust, she got an earful from everyone for that one and the next year the soup was back!
- What is your favorite go-to winter lippies?
I adore a festive red lip. If you’re looking to make a statement, Nahz Fur Atoo by Kat Von D is going to be where it’s at. Once this liquid lipstick dries, it’s not going anywhere all night. Perfect for a holiday party or night out with the girls. But if you’re looking for something that’s a bit more subdued, Two Ton Tomato by Clinique is top choice. It’ll give your lips the small pop of color you want without having to blow everyone out of the water. Plus it’s so wonderfully moisturizing. Perfect for winter!
- What is your favorite winter scent? (Candles, perfumes, etc.)
For the past couple of years, I have been obsessed with Nirvana Black by Elizabeth and James. Made up of sandalwood, vanilla, and a hint of violet, this perfume hits the balance between masculinity and femininity. Perfect for the winter season!
- What is your go-to winter fashion trend?
Blanket scarfs will always hold a special place in my heart. They manage to keep you warm while also being versatile enough to wear a variety of ways. I managed to snag my scarf last year during a post-holiday sale, so keep your eyes out while shopping!
- Your all-time favorite holiday movie?
This one is so hard to answer! I love The Santa Clause because I remember watching it when I was a child. But every year they play A Christmas Story for 24 hours straight on TV so that’s quickly become a holiday classic. Home Alone also gets an honorable mention because it’s just so silly.
- Your all-time favorite holiday song?
Easy – Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays by *Nsync. Don’t get me wrong, I love the classics but nothing puts me in the holiday mood like *Nsync’s holiday album. It’s a total jam.
- Do you prefer to travel during the holidays or stay home?
Stay at home, for sure. I’m a total homebody and the idea of just hanging out at home with my Christmas tree lights on and watching a holiday movie makes me so happy. Luckily all my family lives pretty close by, so it’s an easy day trip when I do visit.
- Your favorite winter skin care must-haves?
I know that I say this over and over and over and over again but my skin gets so dry during the winter. So I rely a lot on moisturizer! Right now the one I’m loving most is Josie Maran’s Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter. When it comes to skin care, I’m very picky. Products that feel heavy or oily on the skin are automatically out. But this one manages to find that perfect balance between being a heavy hitter moisturizer and also feeling lightweight.
- Your favorite winter hair care must have?
Let me tell you, oils save my hair every winter. Especially coconut oil. Whether you’re using it more as a hair mask or just adding a couple of drops of product to your hair after every shower, you’ll be amazed at the results. It definitely takes my hair from dry and frizzy to soft and luscious. I also highly suggest getting a leave-in conditioner. John Frieda is my favorite – I use it after every shower.
- Your favorite winter activity?
There’s nothing I love more than walking around some of the smaller shops and finding unique gifts for my friends and family. Then going home and having a big mug of hot chocolate to help warm me up. While I admit that I do most of my shopping on Amazon, it’s always nice to find a special something while also supporting a local business.
- Your must-have winter beauty product?
My Urban Decay Naked palette. Honestly, this palette is a favorite for a reason. It has the perfect mix of shimmer shades and matte shades so creating a holiday look is super easy. Plus the bronzes just make my heart so happy and the product is so high quality. Trust, the looks you create with this are guaranteed to look amazing.
- Do you love the snow or hate it?
The snow and I are friends from about December 23rd to January 5th. After that I’m totally cool if it doesn’t come back until the end of the year. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to happen so we’re usually fighting until Spring.
- One item on your wishlist this year?
The Just Peachy Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette by Too Faced. When doing an every day look, I usually lean towards matte colors and the ones included in this palette are beautiful. I love love love all the different pinks that you find in it. It also helps that it has glowing reviews! Who doesn’t want a product that’s amazingly pigmented and the perfect addition to any beauty collection?
- Your favorite holiday treat?
Anything chocolate! I’m a huge chocoholic so little treats make me very happy. Advent calendars are always the best because you get a little treat every day. I picked mine up from Trader Joe’s this year!
- Holiday shopping finished before December or last minute?
I do well in getting the bigger stuff early on in December but it seems like the 25th always sneaks up before I manage to get the finishing touches. Usually you’ll find me rushing around the weekend before trying to get everything done!
To do this winter tag next I nominate:
