Tarte™ Rainforest of the Sea™ palette review
I went into Sephora on my birthday last month with a gift card in hand and a new eyeshadow palette in mind. I wasn’t quite sure which one I wanted (honestly, there are at least 4 different ones that are on my list right now) but when I saw the Rainforest of the Sea, I knew that I had to have it!
First off, the packaging is beautiful. The outside has a mixture of purples, blues, and golds that flow together to remind you of water (get it – Rainforest of the SEA). The inside has a mirror along with 8 different shades for you to choose from.
The main thing I love about this palette is that there’s a good mixture of both lights and darks, along with matte colors and shimmery colors. Each color is named after a sea theme – Seashell, Wave, Abyss, Reef, Starfish, Cove, Sand, and Mermaid (starting at the top and moving clockwise).
If I was forced to choose (because I do love ALL the colors on here) I would have to say that my two favorite colors are Reef and Sand. If I’m feeling particularly lazy, I’ll just throw Reef all over my lid and then blend it out with Sand. Takes no time at all but looks beautiful when it’s done.
While the price is a little on the higher side ($36), it’s definitely not as expensive as some of the other palettes that are out there. Plus Tarte makes such a quality product that it doesn’t take much to cover your lid/crease and make the color stand out.
My one major con is that there isn’t a solid black color in it. While this probably isn’t a problem for most, I use black eyeshadow as my eyeliner so when traveling I either have to leave this palette at home or make sure I bring another eyeshadow that has black in it. Again, not a problem for most just a tad inconvenient for me.
Overall I’d say this was definitely a great investment! I for sure am getting my money’s worth out of it and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something new.
