Fall in love with this autumnal dress
I walked into Old Navy the other day to browse around, you know how you do, and surprise – all dresses were 50% off and everything else was 40% off! Merry early Christmas to me! While there, I grabbed a gorgeous dress/cardigan outfit that I’m obsessed with, along with this dress.
I’ve been on the lookout lately for a new date night dress to go with the changing seasons, and this grabbed my eye as soon as I walked in. It has a beautiful red and burnt orange flower print that screams fall. And it’ll stand up against the cold weather amazingly thanks to three-quarter sleeves and a longer hemline.
The dress does lean more towards the modest side, but a fun tassel/tie detail at the top helps spice it up. This creates a cute keyhole that shows off a bit more skin without sacrificing any length. It also offers a flattering cinched waistline to give the dress some shape and highlight your figure. You won’t look boxy or matronly in this dress!
Accessories also help keep the dress from feeling too much like something Laura Ingalls Wilder would wear. Last week I wore this dress to a Murder Mystery Dinner Party and decided to pair it with some black ankle boots to give it a little edge. The dress felt amazing all night – even after eating a three-course meal (including a piece of delicious chocolate cake)!
I do have a small word of warning before I go. I’m 5’8″ (68 inches) and this dress hits me at the perfect length. For those of you shorter than I am this might be a bit too long on you. But please don’t let that dissuade you from at least trying it on! It looks great and is guaranteed to turn heads whenever and wherever you wear it.
