Drugstore fall lipsticks that won’t break the bank

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not one for lipstick. Don’t get me wrong, I love the look of it but I feel like I’m constantly worried about it. Is it wearing off? Is it still even? Do I have splotchy looking lips? It’s just one of those things I’m too aware of (even though 90% of the time it’s fine). One trend that I am obsessed with though is a beautiful dark fall lip. But because of my lipstick concerns, I’m not about to drop a ton of money when I might not even work up the courage to wear it! Thankfully, this is where Target comes in.

You know those days when you wander into Target to get one thing and come out with a cartload? Yeah, it was one of those trips. I went in to grab some gum and somehow found myself in the makeup section. While browsing, I came across these lipsticks that were both a beautiful color and at a price point that would make my wallet happy.

Maybelline® Color Sensational® in Burgundy Blush

While I’ve been leaning more towards liquid lipsticks lately (when I do wear them), I was really interested in trying one that wasn’t liquid to see how I liked it. And then I came across Burgundy Blush. Maybelline has always consistently put out quality products, so after doing a quick swatch I knew I had to have it. After I first put it on, I noticed that the color is incredibly pigmented. To the point where you can totally just kind of blot your lips and still get the deep burgundy effect.

The formula on the other hand definitely has its pros and cons. Because of the pigmentation, you don’t have to add a bunch to get the lip coverage you need (pro!) but it transfers off very easily (con). If you’re planning on eating or drinking a lot while wearing this, make sure you throw it in your bag so you can easily reapply throughout the night. Dark colors are always a ton more obvious when they start to wear off so you want to make sure your lips stay perfectly covered.

Rimmel Stay Matte Lip Liquid in Midnight

I also decided to pick up a liquid lipstick during my trip. I LOVE anything matte, so I was instantly drawn to the Stay Matte liquid lipstick. Like the other lipstick, this one is also very pigmented! Unlike the other lipstick it does take a bit to get full coverage. I have next to no patience, so applying, waiting for it to dry, and applying more isn’t my favorite. But because it does come with a wand, I do feel like you get more control when putting it. PLUS once this formula is dried, it’s not going anywhere!

The best thing about drugstore makeup is that there’s never any real regret after purchasing them. Sure you might feel disappointed at the quality of the product, but the price is so friendly that you get your money’s worth after a couple of wears. Although I might not rock these lipsticks every day, I do see myself wearing them to help add a special touch to any fall outfit!

    1. Thank you! I’m usually more attracted to eyeshadows but I’m trying to broaden my makeup range and look at things I normally wouldn’t. That’s where Target comes in handy!

  1. I love the first paragraph of this post because that is totally me. I love the look, but I never wear it! Those colors are totally up my alley though and I kinda want to go buy some! Maybe I will and then make my husband take me out so I can wear it haha. Thanks for the review!

    1. YES! Yes to all of this! Let me know if you end up grabbing something – I’d love to hear about it! And be sure to get that date night, lipstick or no lipstick! 😉

  2. I really like Revlon ColorStay lipstick. Like the name implies, the color stays on for a very long time. Like you said, it’s fun to try new products as long as the price is reasonable.
